There’s still time to sign up for the WORLD FAMOUS B&B Pet Stop Hamster & Gerbil Races. ($5.00 per pet, $8.00 per pet on race day – all sign-up fees will be donated to the Mobile County Public Schools)
Here’s the training schedule for the weeks leading up to the races on April 18, 2015.
Note: If you don’t have a ball yet, you’re going to need to get one. Just to be on the safe side, ALWAYS supervise your hamster or gerbil in the ball.
April 6 – 12, 2015
We’re getting close to RACE DAY, so the training schedule gets serious!
The track is 16 feet long and there are ridges to keep the hamsters + gerbils (inside their balls) from crossing paths. You might try lining up your shoes down one side of the hallway to keep the ball going in a straight line, like the actual track. Let your pet run up and down this lane for no more than 20 minutes.
(Be safe! Pick up your shoes and put them away after each training session – your family will thank you!)
April 13 – 17, 2015
Continue training for no more than 20 minutes at a time, but start giving your pet a day off between training sessions. We’re tapering down now. The goal is to be in top shape, but not tired.

THE NIGHT BEFORE!!!
Make sure you and your pet get a good night’s sleep tonight. You may consider taking the exercise wheel out (tonight only!) so that your pet can rest.

RACE DAY!!!
You and your pet should eat a healthy breakfast – nothing special, just whatever you two usually eat. We don’t want anyone with an upset tummy on race day!
After the races, give your tiny athlete the rest of the day off. Be sure there’s plenty of fresh, healthy food available and the water bottle is clean and full, then leave him alone to recuperate.
THANKS for running in the B&B Pet Stop Hamster & Gerbil Races! See you next year!!
See you on RACE DAY!!!
